Somnath Temple Aarti Timings, Schedule & Booking –

The Somnath Temple Aarti is performed three times in a day. The first Somnath Temple Aarti is in the morning 7.00 am, then in the afternoon 12.00 pm and in the evening 7.00 pm. The Somnath Temple darshan tickets are not required for live darshan of main deity. Also there are not any Somnath Temple VIP Darshan or aarti facility for devotees by the somnath trust.

The many foreign tourist or NRI who comes for darshan they also follow these rules. Lately this rule is being observed by the guards of the temple. Somnath temple History –

The Somnath Temple what we see today is built seventh time. The first temple of Somnath is regarded as it was built in Gold, made by Moon God himself. In the 7th century, Somnath Jyotirlinga Temple was reconstructed by Maitraka kings of Vallabhi in Gujarat. Then the second structure was destroyed by the Arab governor of Sind by the name of Junayad in 725. Again in 815, the third structure was built by Nagabhata II, who was the King of Pratihara.

In 1024, the temple was looted by Mahmud Ghazni, who took camel-loads of jewels and valuables with him. Fifth time the Paramara King Bhoj of Malwa and the Solanki King Bhima of Gujarat (Anhilwara) rebuilds the temple during 1026-1042. Then the temple was destroyed by the Sutanat of Delhi in 1297 and 1394. The last attack was made by the Mughal Emperor, Aurangzeb in 1706. The present temple was built in 1995 by Shree Somnath Trust in the company of the Government of India. Today, Somnath Temple is under the maintenance of Shree Somnath Trust.

The importance of Somnath Temple is the Shivalinga in the temple is believed to have been safely hiding within its hollowness the famous Syamantak Mani, the Philosopher’s stone.

The religious significance of Somnath Temple finds reference in the Shreemad Bhagavat, Skandpuran, Shivpuran and Rig-Veda which signifies the most popular pilgrimage sites in India.According to historians importance of Somnath Temple, it is located on the confluence point of three rivers, Kapila, Hiran and the mythical Saraswati.It is believed to be the place where Soma, the Moon god bathed and regained his lustre.
